Haven't been feeling well, again, so I was home playing the ukulele and looking at other players on YouTube. I came across this guy. Now I know what I aspire to. There's lots of good players out there, and even more fun players, but I wanna be this guy when I grow up. His ukulele, by the way, is a Republic. If you can find one, and I can't, they're relatively inexpensive. A lot of people with thousands to drop on a ukulele have given Republics bad reviews. Clearly it's the player not the instrument.

By the way, Jon, I trust you're well enough to get out and vote ?

HI Ib, his name is Aaron Klein. He is one of the founders of The Bean Sprout ukulele company;

http://thebeansprout.com/

They make very nice, and very pricey, banjo ukuleles.

I voted by mail last week. So far this evening, the news is good.

Hey, Don't get me wrong. 90% of the music I listen to is guitar based. I don't have time or energy for a guitar. It's hard to play the ukulele well, but it is pretty easy to play one enough to have some fun.

Plus, I was getting tired of being a culture consumer. It's not even like I'm a starving compulsive record collector. I'm comfortable, by my standards of comfort. I can and do acquire recorded music pretty much as I please. Trouble is, I was beginning to find myself boring, and a bit of a douchebag. It was time to get back to the truth as I have always known it. Time to do a little haphazard and amateurish producing instead of passively consuming.

My ukulele gives me a chance to play a little music, learn a little bit more about music and hang out with some 'real' musicians to learn how they think about music.

Every once in a while, I can make girls smile. Nothing wrong with that either.
