Will drive buses for food.

Soon I might be competing for dinner with this adorable kitty.

I signed the papers. I got The Numbers. I am officially retiring on March 1st. I will be taking a whopping 60% pay cut. Funny thing is, I don't feel the least bit nervous. I got my first bus driving job when I was 19 years old. I drove around Detroit in the middle of the night with a newfangled tape recorder that played these little cassettes. I listened to Mott the Hoople and the New York Dolls. Now look at me listening to Hawaiian music on my iPod.

I'm already out looking for my next job. The good part is, if I don't like it I can tell 'em to fuck off.

Rockin' Chair Money- Hank Williams (Buy)

Old Age Pension Check- Roy Acuff (Buy)

Just for old time's sake, imagine you're on the Southwest side of Detroit, driving the Baker bus and listening to this through a three inch speaker on a tape player that's chained to the base of your seat. You never, ever left anything laying around in Detroit. It didn't matter if you were right there. If you had something and someone could pick it up and take off with it, someone would.

All The Young Dudes- Mott The Hoople (Buy)

Hey Jon, I am happy for you. Now you can also add the word "part-time" to your resume.

I thought I'd crawl back on the net this morning, I'm still not 100% but then who is at my age. I need to go write something that makes me smile, and maybe just a tad assholey... I still can't wrap my head around the last couple weeks... just your typical poor folks taking it up the ass...same old same old.

@eloh! We've been missing you. I've been off work for five weeks. I lost 5 or 6 pounds and I can breathe with a lot less difficulty.

I have to go back for a couple, three weeks to shake hands and empty out my locker, (Not to mention making a little extra money) and then I'm all done.

I hope you're OK.

I'm thinking about getting a kitten. I've been lonesome since my old cat, Mittsy, died. I haven't gotten a new one because I haven't had time for a pet. The kitty in the picture is a reference to the stories about old folks eating cat food. Maybe we could do it like, "A bite for you. A bite for me."

HAHAHA you made me remember some shit I pulled when I was a poor student living in a boarding house.

My daughter has me funding the neighborhood strays... I have noticed that some of the dry stuff might not be as bad as the wet stuff.

I should go write about it... damn Jon, you're feeding me some good memories along with a side of kibble.

Take it nice and easy, dude. Not too long to go. 5 or 6 pounds, eh ? I'm jealous.

Incidentally. "All the Young Dudes" is one of my favourite songs. Ever.
